Real Observation

Since there is Only God, in real observation we see the world is simply our own ‘radiance’ and therefore what we see is not separate from us. What is usually referred to as ‘observation’ is an emotionally dissociated activity of viewing the world from a ‘perspective’ of the ‘mind’. Such observation has no more transforming power than a visit to the cinema could transform the content of the movie. Getting the ‘right’ perspective on things is about as boring as watching flies crawl up a wall, yet this is all that occurs in the ordinary event of the ordinary life; merely self, ‘other’ and world watching. In this usual mode we are totally ineffectual relative to self, ‘other’ and world; we are merely the helpless sufferer of self, ‘other’ and world.

Real observation dissolves the separative activity of creating perspectives. The ‘event’ that transforms us from ordinary observation to real observation is a transformation in consciousness wherein we are alive as the ‘total pattern of all relations’, which include without ultimate differentiation, the body-mind-self. In real observation therefore we always see the self-activity as part of the total pattern; we see our absurd ‘selves’ acting absurdly. In ordinary observation, “there is none so blind as those who cannot see”, which is a statement that completely describes the obfuscation of ordinary observation. Real observation is being alive as the Mystery, as real intelligence, and that intelligence is inclusively transforming of the entire domain of our existence.
